As the social justice arm of the Anglican Church, Anglicare’s mission is to tackle disadvantage, helping children and families break release from the cycle of poverty. Our labor focuses on helping children, young people and families who are homeless or in crisis. We do this through our Survive and Thrive approach. Hope is a state of heed that helps someone continues on despite problems and stresses. A holistic approach to healing recognizes social, emotional, spiritual and educational needs, as healthy as physical needs. As segment of the Anglican Church’s broader Mission, we are called by Jesus’ example to respond to human need by offering loving service and seeking to address injustices in our society. Anglicare aspires to be the leading provider of community services in our regions and through our advocacy and holistic protection transform the lives of those in need. In the spirit of loving service we give care and accepting to those in need. In telling this story, Jesus teaches us how societal and personal barriers of prejudice and self interest may cause us to turn away from those in need. We respect the intrinsic worth of every person and admit their capacity for self determination. Jesus’ openness to blah people even those who were considered by society to be ritually unclean or regarded as sinners’ stands out starkly. In one example Jesus is criticized for eating with sinners and tax collectors (Mark 2.1517). The Christian tradition teaches that integrity is not honest an isolated action, but an attitude, an orientation that stems from humility and regard for others. Do nothing from stingy ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. The origins of Anglicare can be traced back to the community care provided by the Anglican Church across rural MSW over 150 years ago. Margaret also has a passion for youth ministry. Jeremy has nearly two decades of management experience in the notforprofit sector. Jenny is a community services leader with meaningful experience both in the government and community sectors. Jenny is passionate about making a certain difference in the lives of children, young people and families. Simon has held senior executive positions at Anglicare since 2002. Simon has more than twenty five years experience across a range of community services and has worked closely with vulnerable young people and families. Ann is the Executive Manager for Innovation and Business Development, where she oversees the Registered Training organization (Anglicare College), therapeutic services, mission development, volunteer programs, informatics, quality standards and compliance, policy, tenders, research and evaluation. With more than thirty years in social services, Ann has experience across the board from active in the field as a social worker to project management and research, with a exceptional emphasis on foster care and adoption services. As Chief Finance Officer he has a notable interest in building potent financially sustainable organizations that have the resources and freedom to fulfill their mission. It also recognizes the continued inequalities experienced by Australia’s first people on all the socio economic life indicators.

The origins of Anglicare can be traced back to the community protection provided by the Anglican Church across rural MSW over 150 years ago. But the true beginnings of Anglicare were founded upon the legacy of Mother Esther who established the Community of the Holy Name in Melbourne in 188. For more than 50 years the Community operated soup kitchens, mother’s groups, children’s homes and hospitals in Victoria. These three properties remain today as Anglicare’s regional headquarters for much of our work across regional MSW.
