Ronald McDonald House South Brisbane provides accommodation for the families of seriously ill children who live more than 50km from the treating hospital in Brisbane. The charity, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), now operates in over 36 countries at over 338 properties that collectively give over 600 bedrooms to families with seriously ailing children. Those programs go way beyond the Houses themselves. The Ronald McDonald Learning Program allows children that have suffered a pensive illness to catch up on their education. Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and Family Facilities at an overgrowing list of Australian hospitals provide a homey retreat for parents going through the stress of looking after their seriously ill children.
